“The House” is just a superstitious as the players are and many people who work in the pit go absolutely nuts when a table gets hot. Here are some things to look for:
-The Boxman will slip in a new set of dice. (Rarely noticed by players) – The Stickman will be told by the Boxman or Floorpeople to “Turn the Dice”. The Stickman will use the stick when retrieving the dice to the center, above the proposition bets, and turn at least one die with the stick. Floorpeople actually think that this will have an impact on the sequence of the dice rolls!
– If one of the dice bounces off the table the floorpeople will encourage the Stickman to send out the rest of the dice
(“Dump the Bowl”) quickly so that the shooter and/or players can not call “Same Dice”.
– Some floorpeople actually believe that the dealers have something to do with a table getting hot, as if it is THEIR fault!
– Floorpeople will be making sure that the dice roll the full length of the table and bounce off the end wall.
– Floorpeople will be making sure that you roll the dice quickly and do not take a long time in “Setting” the dice.
– Dealers just love it when the table gets hot and they just love to watch floorpeople get nervous!
– Dealers make more tips (Tokes) when the table is hot and floorpeople can’t stand it because they are salaried employees.
– Many casinos do not allow dealers to spend 40 minutes in their rotation on the same base (position). They prefer that they continue to move around the dealer positions in 20 minute increments because they are afraid that any specific dealer will bring good fortune at his side of the table.
– REMEMBER… YOU HAVE THE OPTION, AT ANY TIME, TO TAKE DOWN ALL PLACE BETS, ODDS ON COME BETS AND LAYS ON DON’T BETS. THIS COULD ADD HUNDREDS, IF NOT THOUSANDS, TO WHAT YOU HAVE ALREADY WON. Most players who get caught up in a hot roll forget that they have this option.
