Please remember!  These are archives!  The Dice Setter message board was shut down. What is published here are just a few of the threads documenting the early days of dice setting strategies and opinions written by the pioneers of dice influencing.

You will find that you make more money off the other players if they are not allowed to set than you would if you can set. Play your cards as they lay. GOOD LUCK

S-57,
That’s absolutely not true. If you’re depending on random rollers , then you are playing a negative expectation game. When I throw, the game is a positive expectation game. When others are shooting I play so very conservatively so that I have maximum bankroll to wager on myself. Hit, Run Cash in… ~ka-ching!~

I have to agree with irishsetter. When its my turn to shoot I have a very high confidence level. When other shooters shake, rattle, and randomly roll the dice I tend not to be so confident in their shooting. Therefore I don’t bet on them.
However I must agree with shooter that while we the wise few are aware of which casinos do not allow dice setting, there are hundreds more who will go and play.
The casinos know this and will continually make money on that, but at the same time will hassle us precision shooters as an unwelcome pest.
I’m waiting to see if the casinos will start posting signs that say: NO DICE SETTING ALLOWED! at their tables.
Until then Ill keep setting my dice and continue to emerge a winner! GOOD LUCK

I think you misunderstood me Irish. As a dont bettor I would rather see a table full of non setters and as for your comment that youcan change the game to a positive expectation is incorrect you can only change it to a less negative game I mean you still 7out eventually dont you?Casinos that bar setters are just playing into my hands and I do love to set my signature numbers are 5/6/10 my best performance to date 13 10s in 30 minutes but because of my method of play similar to the Proffesors with my own embellishments I was able to make as much on the mostly chicken feeders at the table.Dice setting is becoming the quick fix for guys who really dont want to take the time to learn and MASTER the game of games.GOOD LUCK

Ok guys, I myself am an avid buff of fully understanding the properties of the cubes. I use this knowledge whether dice are in my hands or another’s. Knowing the probability of possible numbers can possibly be an indicator when seen in others hands. For instance, you see four 7’s in a set, looks to me like an opportunity for a lay, dc or even ………look out…go after a progression bet of the 7’s. Gonna get flack on this one! You know….goodness sakes linaway….don’t you know the house odds are at 16.7%? Odds tables are for the house, setting can skew those odds big time as well as table trends.

The point I’m trying to make is that the game is not just about setting but the “TOTAL GAME”. I’m not strong on the don’t side simply because I have developed what expertise I have around the do side. I’m very willing to learn!

Like a mentioned, I will chase the 7’s providing the indicators tell me so, even if it’s the come out roll [oops, the dark side]. For that matter, I focus very hard on tracking the table to see just what is there and how to approach it.

Most have given their best on this site and I for one have given it all I’ve got. Guess what….I’m still learning.

Hey Irish, and others, I understand this site is primarily for setting and have dedicated a dozen or so articles to that premise. Would there be a possibility of generating associated studies regarding playing a total game. Hopefully without major “HISSING
CONTESTS” that are present on so many
forums?

Granted, Craps pit and others has a ton of strategies as well as some at this site.

One major element of the game that’s missing in any forum you go to is “HOW DO YOU TRACK A TABLE”. When this question typically is put to the forums, the honorable participants reply by saying……what are you tracking for? Ol’ dummy me, guess I should have said “THE TOTAL GAME IN PROGRESS”.

Could be newer players would benefit as well as some of us older dogs. No pun intended there “irish…woof”.

What do you think anyone? linaway

S-57,

When I speak of overcoming the negative expectation, I’m talking of overcoming the percentage difference of what the house pays a player in contrast to true odds. I DO INDEED overcome the negative expection. For instance, one only has to throw the dice in a manner that increases the appearance of the 8 by 2.7 percent to have an 8 percent advantage over the house. THAT is positive expectation. Yes, I will seven out eventually, sometimes not even eventually, sometimes in only 6 to 8 rolls. BUT in that time, by knowing my sets, and knowing the correct corresponding wagers, even with relatively short rolls I overcome the negative expectation. If some players use precision shooting as a quick fix as you put it, so be it. For me, discipline, overall knowledge of the game and precision shooting make me a force to be reckoned with.

Linaway, I’m always looking for opinions, sadly I’d have to draw the line at that looney bet the 7 strategy which is promoted by another site. I’ve done the research and the holes in that particular premise are large enough to drive a truck through. Besides the HA on that bet, there is a 33% chance that 7 will not appear in the recommended progression you speak of. If you insist on using that particular nightmare of a strategy, at least HOP the 7’s instead which will give you a payoff closer to true odds and a 5% reduction in the HA. I don’t want to offend you, so please don’t take it that way. And I do enjoy your perspectives, but unless you’re going to bet the 7’s to the bitter end, (1 or 5 or 10 or 30 rolls) I can’t post that theory in good conscience. Tracking the table and other contributions on other aspects of the game are VERY welcome. Hope to hear from you soon!

Irish’
No offense taken. PLease don’t misunderstand my intent of 7 pursuit. My “Less Is More” article gives application definition of the 7 usage for come out.

Not unlike all numbers on the board, as events occur, I use the appropriate number or numbers as a tool to achieve my bet goals, the 7 just happens to be one of them. Rational pursuit limits of any number must be observed. And yes, much prefer the 15 to 1 as opposed to the 7 to 1 odds in the right place and the right time. Some Casinos will not allow hops.

Circumstances can prevail over strategies. Such as players working place bets on come out. When shooters like Heavy or Mp or 57 or billy even myself have a turn at the dice, “working bet” players on come out are going to get burnt simply because the probability of the 7 is immanent in the sets used by us. For that matter, the DP’s worst enemy is the 7.

The intent of my prior post was not to advocate the other site and its pursuits, but to reflect on the need for “Total Game Knowledge” and how to use that knowledge to take advantage of predominant event occurrences.

Looking forward to seeing information on gathering table data and how to use it. Thanks for response. linaway

Slogan: hippity hop

D/Freak…Hop the sevens is a three unit, one roll bet on the three combinations that the seven can roll(5/2,6/1.4/3),and they are paid just like a YO bet. Some jurisdictions don’t offer this wager (primarily A/C until recently) But it is becoming more widely available.
You can hop any number or combination of numbers, once again they are paid like a YO unless the bet is on a hard way then it is paid like a bet on aces or midnight.
If the table doesn’t have a “hop layout” the box will set the bet up above the prop box and show the camera the wager with his fingers.
If you choose to use this bet you must bet a unit on each combination possible and specify what combos your wager will be on. Its called like this” sevens hop a dollar each”($3 wager on 6/1,5/2 4/3)or “easy sixes hop a dollar each”(5/1,4/2 a $2 bet) or “hard six hops for a nickle”($5 bet on 3/3) or “five four hops for a buck”($1 wager on5/4).
These hop bets are high vig just like a YO or Horn but they can sometimes be used to your advantage in certain situations. Try it its fun, especially when they win.

I frankly have never experienced any “heat” when setting the dice. Perhaps its because I go to vegas-downtown; aladdin, venetian. The dealers and pit people didn’t seem to care. Used the crossed sixes for 45 min. on a long roll at Main Street.

A lot of dealers don’t like you throwing to the corner because it makes it harder for the stick to retrieve the dice. Someone’s place bets or odds are always getting knocked over. Makes more work for the dealer and it SLOWS the game down. Remember the MAIN reason ANY casino complains about dice setting or throwing techniques is because is slows the game.
