Topic: Precision shooting for profit?

Author: smoove j I have a general question that’s been bugging me after reading through all the intelligent articles on this site. If we can actually turn craps into a positive expectation game while we’re shooting, why does everyone still seem to mention betting (albeit conservatively) on the random rollers? Doesn’t this needlessly expose our profits to a negative expectation game? Other than distracting heat, I can’t think of a reason to risk it. Am I missing something here? –smoove j |

Author: Mad Professor Hi Smoove J, You are correct. Under ideal circumstances, I would be the solo player at every table that I walk up to. Unfortunately real-world situations make that difficult. Most people don’t have the patience to suspend their betting until it is their turn with the dice. What’s worse, is that if they try that for a few rounds of play, and their own shooting doesn’t produce immediate and tangible profits, then the patience factor almost always evaporates. There are a few betting methods that will keep you in the game, while taking advantage of an occasional random-rollers lucky hand without exposing your bankroll to ruin. In the alternative, you can check out the action at a variety of “live” tables, and pick one where the dice are nearing your shooting position. After your turn, you can look for greener felt-pastures at another table. If you read “And the Survey Says…” on my page, you will see how you can shop for a table that closely fits your individual needs. Good Luck & Good Skill at the Tables. MP |

Author: BBMW On my last trip to Vegas, I didn’t find it to hard to get an empty table, and it’s probably gotten easier since then. Alot of the second tier and/or locals casions are pretty dead during the day midweek. There were a number of occasions where I could walk up to an empty table and roll for a while (whether or not I made my points). However, I couldn’t get it working, and gave up after a while. |

Author: heavy Slogan: Don’t Feed the Chickens Smart thinking, Biglou. Funny how your philosophy changes as your skills improve – seeking out opportunities to start up an empty table – stepping up to the table fully expecting to throw twenty or thirty numbers before sevening out – and adopting an extremely conservative betting philosophy when other players join the game. The yoyo effect of losing while waiting for the dice to return to you gets old real quick. |

Author: SHOOTER57 Except for the guys who 7out in 6 rolls or less (may their tribe increase) many shooters start to show a trend if they throw 12 or more times. This can be any thing from horn numbers to field to inside numbers. I go up on them for one bet per point and wait for my turn or a return to the DP on the next shooter. GOOD LUCK SHOOTER |

Author: smoove j Shooter57, I’m curious why you chose 12 hands (rolls?) as your mark for identifying signature numbers. Do you only use this on shooters that appear to have precision skills, or anyone with a SRR larger than 6? Also, I tend to agree with everyone else about betting the darkside. It has the advantage of a lower house advantage, but can have the drawback of making you look like a conceited ass when you bet against everyone and then spread it all around when you get the dice. May you 7’s be few and far between, –smoove j |
